In Ballerina, Ana de Armas stars as Rooney, a killer dancer on a quest for vengeance against those who murdered her family. The film boasts an impressive cast, including Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, and Keanu Reeves.
Development and Production
Lionsgate acquired Shay Hatten’s original script for the film in 2017. Hatten’s involvement with the John Wick series grew from there, contributing to the screenplay for Parabellum and serving as head writer for Chapter 4. In October 2019, Len Wiseman was brought on as the director, with franchise director Chad Stahelski confirmed as a producer by May 2020.
Ballerina was officially announced in April 2022, with Ana de Armas replacing Unity Phelan, who originally played the character in Parabellum. By November 2022, the main cast was fully assembled. Principal photography began shortly thereafter in Prague.
Release Date
