The Defense Department has awarded a substantial $66 million contract to AAFS (Afirica Automated Distribution Services), based in Gibraltar, for the procurement of J8 Jeep tactical vehicles. The equipment will fulfill the requirements for tactical transportation of counter-narcotics forces in support of select partner nations participating in counter-narcotics activities. The performance location of this procurement is the U.S. Southern Command and Central Command areas of responsibility.
The contract is scheduled to be completed by September 27, 2027, and was a sole-source acquisition. Fiscal 2022 and 2023 procurement and maintenance funds in the amount of $5,000,000 are being obligated at the time of award.
